Igrejas Cristã Maranata em Massachusetts iniciam o ano com batismos

Novo nascimento e seguir o exemplo deixado pelo próprio Senhor Jesus: essa foi a experiência de 10 pessoas batizadas no estado de Massachusetts, Estados Unidos, em janeiro e fevereiro de 2020. Os batismos aconteceram nos dias 11 de janeiro, na Igreja Cristã Maranata (Maranatha Christian Church – MCC) de Peabody, onde 04 pessoas desceram às águas, e 02 de fevereiro de 2020, em Hyannis, quando 06 pessoas viveram tal experiência.

Evento em Peabody

O culto em Peabody teve a participação de mais de 115 pessoas, entre visitantes e membros das congregações de Peabody e Revere, a qual também esteve representada no dia. Os participantes presenciaram o primeiro batismo da região em 2020, que marcou o início do ano com bençãos e experiências. A mensagem foi entregue pelo Pastor Cleverson Rocha, que falou sobre o ato do batismo com base no texto bíblico de Mateus 28:18-20.

Evento em Hyannis

Mais de 120 pessoas das igrejas de Hyannis, Plymouth e Martha’s Vineyard participaram do culto em Hyannis. Do total, 28 eram visitantes. A mensagem foi entregue pelo Pastor Donald Pelto, que abordou a morte para o pecado e a novidade de vida descritos no capítulo 6 do livro de Romanos.

O Pastor Edmar Cavalcanti Lima fez o ato do batismo e encerrou o culto especial, no qual os recém batizados participaram pela primeira vez da ceia do Senhor. Entre eles, o jovem americano Kevin Arseneaux, 16 anos, que deu seu testemunho de definição e expressou o desejo de ser usado nesta Obra.

Experiência do jovem Kevin

“O que eu sinto neste momento não pode ser descrito com palavras. Tenho sido abençoado. Todos os dias aprendo algo novo e tenho vivido um grande crescimento espiritual. O pastor teve uma revelação para eu ler o livro de Timóteo. A palavra falou da minha vida e para a minha vida. Daquele momento em diante eu soube que fui chamado para pregar essa palavra que as pessoas tanto precisam neste mundo”, contou o jovem quando estava dentro do batistério, momentos antes de ser imerso nas águas.

Kevin começou a frequentar os cultos em setembro de 2019, quando foi convidado por uma família da igreja. Com o passar dos meses, ele relata que sentiu a operação de Deus em sua vida e começou a entender a Bíblia. Dez familiares e cinco amigos do jovem participaram pela primeira vez de um culto na denominação. 

Vigor para servir

Faz pouco mais de um ano que faleceu o marido da senhora Sônia Gratz, de 76 anos. Nesse período, ela tem deixado sua casa no Brasil, onde morava no estado do Espírito Santo, para passar mais tempo com as filhas, as quais residem nos Estados Unidos. “Comecei a frequentar a igreja com as minhas filhas. Creio que foi nessa época que Deus me chamou e começou a mudar a minha vida. Eu quis me batizar porque quero servir ao Senhor. Não quero só ficar sentada no banco, mas, apesar da idade, quero ter dons e ser usada. Estou muito feliz”, afirmou Sônia.

Maranatha Christian Churches in Massachusetts start the year with baptisms

New Birth and following the example left by the Lord Jesus himself: that was the experience of 10 people who baptized in Massachusetts, United States, during January and February of 2020. The baptisms were held on January 11th, 2020, at Maranatha Christian Church of Peabody, where 4 people descended into the waters, and February 2nd, 2020, in Hyannis, where 6 people lived said experience.

Event in Peabody

The service in Peabody held approximately 115 people, which included visitors and members of the congregations of both Peabody and Revere, who was also represented that day. The participants witnessed the first baptism of the region in 2020, which marked the beginning of the year with blessings and experiences with the Lord. The message was conveyed by Pastor Cleverson Rocha, who spoke about the act of baptism, basing it on the biblical text from the Gospel of Matthew 28:18-20.

Event in Hyannis

More than 120 people from the churches of Hyannis, Plymouth and Martha’s Vineyard participated in the service in Hyannis. Of the total, 28 were visitors.

The message was delivered by Pastor Donald Pelto, who addressed death to sin and the newness of life described in chapter 6 of the book of Romans.

Pastor Edmar Cavalcante Lima performed the baptism and ended the special service, in which the newly baptized participated for the first time in the Lord's Supper. Among them, the young American Kevin Arseneaux, 16, who gave his testimony of definition and expressed the desire to be used in this Work.

Kevin’s Experience

“What I feel at the moment cannot be described in words. I have been blessed. Every day I learn something new and I have experienced great spiritual growth. The pastor had a revelation for me to read the book of Timothy. The word spoke of my life and for my life. From that moment on I knew that I was called to preach that word that people in this world need so much”, said the young man when he was inside the baptistery, moments before being immersed in the waters.

Kevin started attending services in September 2019, when he was invited by a church family. Over the months, he reports that he felt God's operation in his life and began to understand the Bible. Ten family members and five friends of the young man attended a Maranatha Christian Church service for the first time.

Vigor to serve

Just over a year has passed since the death of the husband of Mrs. Sônia Gratz, 76, who was baptized the same day. During this period, she has left her home in Brazil, where she lived in the state of Espírito Santo, to spend more time with her daughters, who reside in the United States. “I started attending church with my daughters. I believe it was at that time that God called me and started to change my life. I wanted to be baptized because I want to serve the Lord. I don't want to just sit on the bench, but despite my age, I want to have gifts and be used. I'm very happy”, explained Sônia.
